Hang In There

Devastation does not even begin to describe it. I am sad that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett have separated. Or so the news reports say. If what the reports are saying is true then that is just sad. They were the look up to couple. I mean they are the people you look up to and say well there is hope in Marriage. However the same reports say that they have denied being separated so let that be true.

We use to look up to Will Smith in Fresh Prince of Belair. I used to oogle and droole at him when he used to act in Fresh Prince.

Then he got Married and we were all green with envy and I used to say to myself hmmmh if I was there maybe it would have been me. (Oh how I wish)

He started producing these movies one great one after another one. My favorite was wild wild west.

So now what could be the matter? reports from online entertainment magazines claim that the couple is not divorced. My point for this post actually is just to let them and everyone out there who is married to HANG IN THERE. Off course not everyday will be sunny and like New Edition say it in their track 'Can you stand the rain?'Can you really stand the those tough times with your spouse?

When you do decide to get married don't do it out of emotions.Emotions have a way of misleading people when making important decisions. Think about it this way; what will happen when the goose bumps are gone?

Think about it critically. The reasons people get married these days are scary hence the high number of divorce cases around....because the guy is good looking (its one of the traits) but should not be a major reason why you get married. Money is the major factor. So now what happens if your spouse gets laid off work? or God forbid they can no longer work because of sickness etc?? Will that now become a reason to divorce your spouse? Remember those very important words 'For better, for worse till death do us part?'

I'm still positive and will continue to be positive about marriage, because its a beautiful thing, a beautiful place to be at. I love being married to my husband even if we've just done it for two years and we can be called toddlers at this game, I enjoy being married to him because more than a husband, we've been through the thickest patches and the sunny days and there's more to come in the future that I cant wait to share with him. He is more than just a husband,he is my friend, lover and companion.

On that note i would like to end by saying 'HANG IN THERE' Marriage can and will always work if you choose to make it to work, there's a lot of hard work involved in making a marriage work.

Advice for women

I saw this on a friends note on facebook, as a disclaimer I don't agree with entirely every advice given below

 1. Never do housework. No man ever made love to a woman because the house was spotless.
2. Don't imagine you can change a man - unless he's in diapers.
3. What do you do if your boyfriend walks out? You shut the door.
4. So many men - so many reasons not to sleep with any of them.
5. If they put a man on the moon, they should be able to put the mall there.
6. Tell him you're not his type - you have a pulse.
7. Never let your man's mind wander. It's too little to be let out alone.
8. The only reason men are on this planet is that vibrators can't dance or buy drinks.
9. Never sleep with a man who's named his penis.
10. Go for younger men. You might as well. They never mature anyway.
11. A man who can dress himself without looking like Forrest Gump is unquestionably gay.
12. Definition of a bachelor: a man who has missed the opportunity to make some woman miserable.
13. Women don't make fools of men. Most of them are the do-it-yourself types.
14. The best way to get a man to do something is to suggest they are too old for it.
15. Love is blind, but marriage is a real eye-opener.
16. If you want a committed man, look in a mental hospital.
17. The children of Israel wandered around the desert for 40 years. Even in biblical times, men wouldn't ask for directions.
18. If he asks what sort of books you're interested in, tell him checkbooks.
19. A man's idea of serious commitment is usually "Oh all right, I'll stay the night."

Hmmh what say you?

Helper

I remember when I was growing up, there used to be a game we played called 'kati'. This game involved having two people on either side trying to aim a ball at another person at the center as their target. The one at the center would try as much as possible to miss being hit by the ball. Now these were two opposing teams and each team shared a 'helper'. I used to hate being a helper because in most cases the players would either forget you or disregard you. Most of the time a helper would be someone who is the youngest or deemed to be the most inexperience in the game. That was then, now as I read the Bible (Psalm 30:10, Psalm 118:7, Exodus 18:2,John 14:16) being a helper is being in a very honorary position. As a woman I realize that I was created to be a helper and I am honored to be one Genesis 2:20-22.

My take what's yours

The current anti homosexuality bill in Uganda made me reflect upon certain issues regarding the issue of homosexuality. Before I delve into my thoughts about the whole issue let me start by giving the current provisions given in the current bill:
• Gays and lesbians convicted of having gay sex would be sentenced, at minimum, to life in prison
• People who test positive for HIV may be executed
• Homosexuals who have sex with a minor, or engage in homosexual sex more than once, may also receive the death penalty
• The bill forbids the "promotion of homosexuality," which in effect bans organizations working in HIV and AIDS prevention
• Anyone who knows of homosexual activity taking place but does not report it would risk up to three years in prison
This law applies to every Ugandan residing outside the country, if found they would be brought back home and convicted there.
There are two ways of addressing the issue of homosexuality in the society. In my opinion Christians have made some errors when it comes to approaching the issue. Yes I agree that homosexuality is wrong but when it comes to ministering to a pluralistic society and winning others to Christ I think the internal approach of quoting the Bible in most cases does not work. Quoting Bible verses is great especially when dealing with Christians; but is not the case when dealing with the secular public square.

First one has to consider what our laws are on homosexuality, in Kenya it is wrong to take part in same sex relationships, what is taught in schools and what the current stands in social institutions are, like marriage what they say about these unions. Our overall goal as Christians is to win people to Christ, to be the salt and the light of the world. Our objective as Christians is to minimize the amount of unrighteousness that goes on in our cultures.

When discussing sensitive issues such as homosexuality; one should not in as much pose a moral question about homosexuality or about what consenting adults having the liberty to do what they want in the privacy of their homes. The question that should be raised is one of public good.

All in all homosexuality should not in itself affect your professional relationship with colleagues. You maybe Christian and hold very strong views about homosexuality expressing your personal views will definitely affect your working relationship. There are certain areas we would like to make our case about Jesus Christ and in so doing we must choose the right time and place to do so in order to be more sensitive to the person we are talking to. This will help to avoid a situation where our views are misunderstood or twisted.

You must realize the best time and place to express your opinions when certain issues arise. What do you feel about homosexuality? I don’t feel uncomfortable about homosexuality simply because someone is a homosexual. People should be treated as individuals and not as per their sexual orientation.

This is different from what do you think about homosexuality; because if I am asked about what I think I would say that homosexuals should be treated with respect, they should not be called names they should be accorded the same rights as other citizens.

However homosexuality is unnatural and immoral. This is my personal conviction. I do not want to be labeled as opinionated, narrow minded and judgmental. In most cases Christians get pigeon holed as the judgmental but the truth is everybody is judgmental. This is certain if you believe in morality.
