Of tribal groups and fan pages

Have you noticed lately how many pages about tribes are cropping and popping up on the social media? To be precise facebook largely because this is the most popular social networking site in Kenya. The list is endless from Maragolis on facebook, Bukusus online, Luhyias with swagger, How a luo would have said it. I think all these are a recipe for disaster in the near future.

If remember a while back the revolution in Egypt began through the social media pages and I foresee the same happening to us if we are not careful. Come to think of it there are not laws of set guidelines on how to operate such forms of communication. I wonder if the Ministry of Information has any plans or ideas in the pipeline......

Under the guise of group you will find posts of people hating on certain tribes. Elections are coming really soon and our so called leaders are not helping with their public utterances that in most cases insinuate hating another tribe. I just don't know what we can do to make people change their attitudes and start voting leaders from their qualities and not judging them because of their tribe, gender, level of education or income.

I pray that there will come a time when you go to the ballot box you will not be voting for a leader because of public euphoria but because they have demonstrated that they have the capacity to lead a county with intergrity, maturity and peoples best interests at heart

xoxo
